I researched where to eat visiting from out of town and this was a top result and for great reason. The food was absolutely delicious, service was great, drinks were made delicious. Definitely should not miss this place!

This is a great Houston landmark with delicious food and great prices in Houston's East End. The beloved late "Mama Ninfa Laurenzo created tacos al carbon, which the whole world would eventually come to know as fajitas, the bedrock of Tex-Mex cuisine." It's authentically decorated with a warm atmosphere. Enjoyed a delicious meal with friendly staff. Free parking.

I'll just come out and say that this place speaks for itself without needing this review, but I'll give it my best go. For those who may not be from Houston, this is an absolute icon and staple of this city. Ninfa's has been around since 1973 and continues to sling delicious food and drink. I've been coming here since I was a wee little tyke with my mom and dad, at the time with a picky diet eating an obnoxious amount of chile con queso. Fast forward to today and I've managed to give multiple items on the menu a try. There's little that isnt worth ordering, but to start with I still go for some queso and guacamole. The ceviche is a solid option as well. For the mains, one of my favorites is the Cochinita Pibil, it's just a unique and deliciously flavored dish. If you're looking for something in the seafood variety, go for the Diablo shrimp. On the enchiladas side, the Suiza's with the poblano sauce and chicken makes for a bit of a lighter dish. On the drink front, some people will complain about the margaritas being overrated. Here's the pro tip, ALWAYS get the Ninfaritas and down be cheap with the basic ones. If you're looking for one to bring it, this is the order. The pricing here isn't going to be the cheapest in town, but you're going to walk away fat and happy. On rhe service front, I've never had poor service. Maybe it's a bit of nostalgia for me, but I've continually tried other joints around town and always find myself still frequenting Ninfa's. While there are plenty of fantastic options, give this one a go if you're wanting to tick a staple off the list!

Since moving to Houston last year, I had heard great things about Ninfa's but had never visited. That changed recently when we visited with some friends from New York that wanted to eat some good Tex-Mex while they were in town. We went on a Saturday night around 8pm and even though it was crowded, we were served very quickly. We ordered beef fajitas for the table to share and munched on warm tortilla chips and salsa while we waited for our food. The restaurant is cozy and colorful with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat near the bar which had nice views of the street and the patio. Despite the number of people in the restaurant, our meal arrived quickly. The fajitas were served with rice, beans, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole and plenty of flour tortillas. They were extremely delicious, juicy, and tender. Honestly, the steak fajitas were some of the best I've ever had and I have eaten a lot of Tex-Mex in my 24 years of living in Texas! They were a little pricier than I'd like to pay, but they were so good the price was worth it. I'd definitely recommend Ninfa's to anyone craving good steak fajitas!

We had never been although they seem to have legend status from our friends. After going I can see why. We opted for the bar as the restaurant was slammed. The bar was super fun. Great drinks, great bartenders and great conversation. It makes a difference on a night out where even the staff is having fun. Each item we tried was very flavorful, cooked perfectly, and even down to the vegetarian mushroom quesadilla had us already planning to come back. Plenty of parking and local murals and seats out front while you are waiting certainly get you in the vibe. They earned their place in the top 50 tacos!

The ORIGINAL.... a Houston Institution. One of those places in Houston that I have been to a thousand times and never thought about reviewing because I take it for granted, which is a shame, because it's one of the first places I recommend to guest visiting Houston that want some authentic Tex-Mex and get the old skool Houston vibe. My favs are the Tacos Al Carbon, crispy tacos, the Tejas plate and about ten other items and of course washing it down with all the margaritas /drink options they have available - UBER recommended. Festive atmosphere, great staff - always a good time.

Spotted this location on our way to Bingo Loco and us girls all said we'll have to stop there afterwards if bingo didn't have food and well, here we are with a review I decided to get the award winning burger and it did not disappoint. Very juicy and tons of flavor. The wedges were meh but the star was the burger. They provide complimentary chips and salsa. It was late on a Friday night and it was still busy in there but plenty of seating and service was quick and very nice. They have a nice outdoor patio section but it was a bit chilly so we passed but the ambiance was traditional Mexican vibes.

We had a great experience at The Original Ninfa's Mexican restaurant! We made reservations for 4 on a Thursday, and right from the start, the service was incredibly fast and friendly. To kick things off, we ordered the Guacamole and Queso Flameado. The Queso Flameado was a bit of a surprise--it wasn't the typical melted cheese with chips I was expecting. Instead, it was a rich, melted cheese with chorizo, wrapped in a flour tortilla. It was delicious but definitely on the heavier side, so be prepared for that! For our main course, we went with the fajitas and chose the beef skirt steak. The fajitas came with all the right sides--beans, rice, and plenty of toppings to build your perfect bite. We also got both corn & flour tortillas. The fajitas were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and flavorful. We even ordered the Berry toppings, which were a tasty and refreshing touch. I ordered a skinny mezcal margarita, which was perfectly balanced and really hit the spot. The drinks were just as good as the food, and it was an all-around delightful experience. The atmosphere was nice, the service was top-notch, and the food was amazing.

My food here was absolutely delicious! Or should I say Delicioso which is the meal that I got which contained an enchilada suiza, beef flauta, and an taco al carbon! The portion was huge to where I was able to bring leftovers home. Service was very fast and our waiter was super sweet and helpful, giving both myself and my friend recommendations and checked up on us to ensure we were good during our meal. The restaurants interior contained lots of Mexican culture and naturally since it's October, they had cute little skeletons hanging around the restaurant. Parking was very simple, since they have a parking lot designated for Ninfa's guest. I look forward to returning and trying out different meals from here!

I knew Houston had good Tex-Mex, but The Original Ninfa's on Navigation exceeded my already high expectations. This local chain's flagship location is a huge space, yet every seat was filled when we arrived. Despite the crowd, the wait was manageable - about 40 minutes, and we easily passed the time with drinks and queso at the bar. Once we were seated, we went all out. Shrimp fajitas, chicken enchiladas, tacos, rice and beans, and enough queso to swim in. The spread was impressive, and the food lived up to the visual spectacle. Everything had so much flavor, and the portions were Texas-sized, naturally. The meal was the kind that made me lean back in my chair and wonder if I've ever truly enjoyed Tex-Mex before. The flavors were bold and each dish had its own distinct character. The atmosphere was lively and bustling, with the kind of energy you'd expect from a local favorite. Despite the crowds, service was attentive and efficient. Come hungry! The portions are generous, and you'll want to try a bit of everything. We ate until we were stuffed, and even then, we were eyeing the dessert menu (though our belts wisely advised against it). For anyone visiting Houston and looking for a quintessential Tex-Mex experience, The Original Ninfa's on Navigation should be at the top of your list.
